Snapshot 4 Ali

Music is a huge part of my life and always has been. My dad’s side of his family is very musically talented, my aunt sings in a band; and the rest of his family plays guitar. My father also knows how to play guitar. My sister has played the violin for over 8 years. Myself I played the saxophone for 3 years; then I quit and joined the choir. I absolutely love to sing, and I have been in choir for over 5 years. But the best memory I have from music is, my senior year in high school. My symphonic choir and I all got the chance to sing in New York City. We toured the city and sang at many places like the cathedral of St. John. Music has been a huge part of my life, and singing to me is like being free. I finally get to express myself in way that’s fun and easy. My favorite artist I would have to say is Lifehouse. This band is my favorite because it reminds me a lot of my childhood. My mother had one of their CD’s and I remember listening to them on long car rides; my mother sister and I all belting the chorus together. One song that means a lot to me is the song “You and Me”. This song is so emotional, and it really speaks to me. The song is about some man in love with this girl, and my favorite lyric from this song is: “You and me and all of the people, and I don’t know why, I can’t keep my eyes off of you…” I just love this because, out of all the people in the world he found her, and he can’t stop admiring her. That is just so sweet, today you don’t hear or see stuff like that. This song just proves how special a moment like that is.
