Snapshot 4 By Daniel Van Dyke

Music is very important to our lives it allows us to connect our lives to the music and just let go all the things that maybe stressing us out. For me music can always cheer me up when im feeling down. I listenn to many kinds of music from country music all the way to rap. It just dependeds on how im feeling or what im doning in that moment. Normally when Im playing basketball ill listen to rap because its up beat and allows me to get into the feel of the game better. One of my favorite country artist is Luke Bryan. I just like how his music sounds and the story he tells.

In late January of this year his song "Drink A Beer" had a new meaning to me. My grandpa in japan pass away after dealing with brain tumors for many years and it got to the point there was nothing else the doctors could do. When he first pasted away I listened to a lot of music to try and get my mind off the fact he was gone, but ever time this song came on I couldn't listen to it. In the song there is one verse that made me not be able to listen to it for awhile.
"So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
And watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer"
At the time it would bring back all the great memoires I had with my grandpa and i would get depressed and miss him. In the song when it talks about the pier it would remind me of the times when i went fishing with my grandpa. We would go out to dock to go fishing till sun went down but never seemed able to catch anything. Our fishing poles seem to be like sharks and scared the fish away. After a few months went by I was able to listen to the song without it bugging me too much. This song will always bring back the memories of my grandpa but as a way to remember all the good times.
