Music is an important part of my life because it has lots of meanings and emotions. There is lots of music I listen to because each song has a different meaning. I like to find out what each song means and why the artist decide to write it and I also like to find out what it means to me. Most of the music I listen to is either rock or indie rock. The War On Drugs, Alan Parsons project, and Pink Floyd are the bands I listen to most but I will also listen to rap like Kanye West if i'm exercising.
The band that I usually listen to the most is The War On Drugs. They are an indie rock band that sounds kind of like My Bloody Valentine and Bob Dylan if they were mixed together. The band is not very popular at the moment but i'm glad that I stumbled across them. The first time I listened to The War On Drugs was during a livestream of a concert on YouTube. Only a couple minutes passed by before I knew that I came across one of the best bands I have ever heard. Their music is important to me because it has lots of emotions and meanings I can relate to.
The song that I like the most by them is "Under the Pressure". To me the sound of the song is like a heavenly sunset because it has really good rhythm that reminds me of a sunset. I have yet to hear a song like it because in my opinion nothing can match its uniqueness. The lyrics I like the most are in the middle of a stanza.
"You were raised on a promise
To find out over time
Better come around to the new way
Or watch as it all breaks down here
Under the pressure"
To me these lyrics mean that we were all raised a certain way but over time things change. So if we don't change with them we tend to lose control of are lives and break under the pressure.
This is a picture of the band from the concert that I watched on YouTube.
The way you described what the lyrics mean is very well done. "To me these lyrics mean that we were all raised a certain way but over time things change. So if we don't change with them we tend to lose control of are lives and break under the pressure." This definitely fits throughout our every day life especially school, you cant lose focus of what the end goal is. That it to succeed and to better your self as a person.

ReplyDeleteHey Patrick, i like your diversity in the music you listen too. Also I'm encouraged by how you listen to musicians that may not be well known like The War On Drugs. I like how you said, "Their music is important to me because it has lots of emotions and meanings i can relate to." That should be the soul reason why we listen to the artists and songs we listen to.
